“Wonderful place to start your fencing journey. Whether you watched The Princess Bride, Star Wars, or By the Sword, you’ll find likeminded people who also enjoy this awesome sport. You get to stab people with swords. How cool is that? Love this place, great coaches like Brily, great atmosphere. Might be the only sport I’ve stuck through with.”

“My daughter started learning fencing 3 years ago and has really enjoyed her experience. Brily is a great coach motivating the kids to do their best, showing he genuinely cares about their progress and holds them to a high level of discipline and expectations. The kids love his friendly humour and we appreciate the sense of community and support he has built. The CFA is a wonderful place to take up the sport of fencing!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need to buy gear?
Nope. We provide masks, jackets and blades for beginner classes. Just bring gym clothes and clean indoor shoes.
How old does my kid need to be?
We start kids at 7 years old. However, plenty of members first picked up a blade in their 30s, 40s and even later.
Is Fencing safe?
Yes! Fencing is one of the safest sports with one of the lowest Athletes injury rates. Due to the high degree of safety in using protective equipment (Jacket, Pants, Mask etc), injuries from using Fencing equipment (eg: Foil/Sword) are very rare; if not almost zero.
This article summarizes it well.
I've fenced before, how do I start?
Come in for a quick assessment and we'll slot you into the right group.
Is Fencing expensive?
No! That’s a common misconception. Recreational fencing is comparable in cost to many other sports, including martial arts, house-league soccer, and basketball. At the Canadian Fencing Academy, we work to keep fencing accessible for everyone.
The class time doesn’t work for me. I’m still interested — what are my options?
We can arrange private lessons at a time that works for you.
